History The Zhejiang University Education Foundation (USA) was registered in California as a nonprofit public benefit corporation (a 501(c)3 with tax exempt status) in 1995, and is independently operated by Zhejiang University alumni in Northern America.

It was initially known as “The American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation”. The Foundation was named after the late Dr. Zhu Kezhen (a.k.a. Chu Kochen or K. Z. Zu; 1890-1974), who was a Harvard educated meteorologist, and an eminent researcher and educator in modern Chinese history. Professor Zhu served as the president of Zhejiang University for 13 years (1936 – 1949). Under his distinguished leadership, Zhejiang University became one of the top universities in China.

Mission Statement The Foundation is dedicated to enriching and supporting excellence in education & research, academic exchanges, and cultural understanding between U.S. institutions and Zhejiang University. 

Vision In partnership with the alumni and friends of Zhejiang University, the Foundation endeavors to bridge Zhejiang University with American societies, foster intellectual growth and professional development, and prepare global citizens and leaders for the workforce of the future. 

Governance The Foundation is governed by a board of Directors, who are volunteer alumni and friends with integrity, professionalism and community service experiences, and are dedicated to the achievement of the Foundations’ mission and vision.
